The SMART-RESOLVE module is an exception management system that
automates: confirmation matching reconciliation payment and other
types of investigations The system can also be used in conjunction with other systems or as a stand-alone solution. Confirmation Matching is usually one of the first areas to highlight trading errors or discrepancies. So in order to minimise risk and reduce exposure exceptions need to be passed to the investigations team as the earliest possible point. SMART-RESOLVE can be configured to automatically highlight and generate investigation ‘cases’ for late arriving or absent confirmations as well as other non-match scenarios. Supporting correspondence can be relayed to internal departments and external agents and user-definable SMART templates ensure manual intervention is kept to a minimum. Reconciliation activity can also lead to investigations and queries; and again much of this offers the opportunity for automation, as an example, non-receipts can trigger Chaser’s to a correspondent or counterparty requesting good value or detailing compensation details. Equally, automation can be used to update or close outstanding investigations: An investigation may have been generated from a confirmation matching problem but SMART has identified that despite having an outstanding confirmation, funds have been received and the case can be updated accordingly, with or without a user review stage. The real value and potential for any solution is in its access to relevant information. SMART as a truly integrated solution does not rely on third-party workflow tools, to trigger events or bring together related pieces information. |
