SMART-Resolve has integrated tools and controls that allow exceptions to be automatically reported and properly investigated. This not only dramatically reduces the manual intervention of users, but also and above all, reduces the cost of the analysis of exceptions processing and minimises the potential for loss and damage to the reputation of your institution.

An investigation folder can be opened at any time from one of the SMART Matching and Reconciliation modules, but also totally independently of those modules, thus offering a comprehensive investigation to any of the department of your bank. A folder lets you embed all the necessary elements that characterise your research:
 
  • A meaningful title describing the investigated problem
  • The department (and associated users) that owns the investigation
  • The type of problem (selected from a predefined table of error codes)
  • The counterparty / beneficiary involved in the investigation
  • Up to three departments responsible for the error
  • A cost centre
  • The summary of the transaction(s) involved
  • Correspondence (e-mail, SWIFT MT in/out, letter, fax, etc.)
  • Other items and matches from the SMART other Matching and Reconciliation modules
  • Scanned documents and screen print
  • Users notes
  • Calculation through formulae of the penalty applied to the investigated problem (back-value etc.)
  • Segregation of costs by currency
 
You can maintain types of folders, which are used to classify them according to the nature of the investigation. The type of folder is part of the details that characterise a folder and may be assigned or changed at any time during the investigation. You have full control over the folder types and you can create as many as you want in order to follow the rules of your business. For each folder type you can assign a particular message text to be suggested to the users when they are making manual correspondence as well as a maximum wait time after which the folder will be presented back to you in the work queues if no action has been taken on the folder during that time. The suggested prompting default time can be changed at any time, and it can be overridden on a case-by-case basis when working with a folder. A maximum time of inactivity after a folder has been prompted for user action can also be set for additional monitoring.
 
You use Error codes at the start of the investigation to classify each investigation folder in accordance with the error. Thanks to these codes, you will be able later to analyse the problems and change your procedures in order to eradicate or at least minimise them.
